Award shows are a chance for celebrities to showcase their best red carpet looks. Their custom designer outfits have the power to shape popular fashion for years to follow, and they have certainly done so. But rather than following the trends, British actress and television presenter Hannah Waddingham decided to bring a purse unlike any other to the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The unique clutch wasn't actually designed by a big brand name. Instead, the accessory was created by her 9-year-old daughter, Kitty.
When Waddingham was asked about the creative clutch, she replied, “My daughter wanted to contribute.” The rest of Waddingham's look for the evening was simple and elegant. Her off-the-shoulder ruby red gown and several pieces of Norman Silverman jewelry complemented the bag she proudly held in her hand on the red carpet. The one-of-a-kind clutch, which was made of cardboard, inlcuded crayon doodles of every color of the rainbow on it. The custom handbag also featured an inspirational “Epic” written on the inner closure flap.
Despite the simple materials used to make the clutch, it was proven to be a functional part of Waddingham's outfit. The beaming mom showed it off on the red carpet, even pointing out the ample storage room. As Waddingham shared, Kitty even told her, “Mummy, it goes with everything and nothing, like you say.” If her daughter keeps this up, she may have a real future in fashion design. At the end of the day, despite the glitz and glam of the night, the Ted Lasso star stated, “This is all great but this [being a mom] is the most important.”
