Contributing Writer Vanessa Ruiz is a creative director and curator based in Chicago. While earning her master’s degree in biomedical visualization (medical illustration) at UIC, Vanessa founded Street Anatomy, a website that aggregates works at the intersection of contemporary art and human anatomy. Ruiz has curated several anatomically-themed gallery shows in Chicago, including several at the International Museum of Surgical Science. In 2015, Vanessa was a speaker at TEDMED and she currently serves on their Editorial Advisory Board.
